STT 501 Methods of
Statistics (3 cr):
Measures of central
tendency and dispersion, basic concepts of probability, binomial,
negative binomial, poison, normal, Chi square, Student's ‘T’, and
‘F’ distributions; non parametric statistics, Type I and Type II
errors and tests of hypotheses, basics of analysis of variance,
basics of correlation and regression analysis. |

STT 505 Regression
Analysis (3 cr):
Simple linear
regression, multiple regression, stepwise regression, simple non
Linear regression and analysis of covariance. (2 cr. theory + 1cr.
practical). |

STT 510 Design of
Experiments (3 cr):
Analysis of variance.
Multiple comparison procedures. Randomized complete and incomplete
block designs; Latin square design, Factorial experiments;
confounded designs; split plot designs, strip plot design. |

STT 515 Data
analysis by Microcomputers (3 cr):
Use of the
Microcomputers in data analysis. The major emphasis is placed on
learning to use selected highly appropriate software packages.
Lecture 2 hours, laboratory 4 hours per week. |

Simple random
sampling, stratified random sampling, ratio and regression
estimation, cluster sampling, systematic sampling, two stage cluster
sampling, design of survey instruments. |

Multivariate Analysis (3 cr):
Multivariate normal
distribution, multivariate analysis of variance, multivariate
regression, multivariate tests, principal component analysis and
discriminate analysis. |
